A device for profile monitoring consists of a rotating transmitter/receiver head (1), arranged at the centre of a transmitter (9) to be monitored, for a high-frequency pulsed light beam (6), of a reflector (2), extending in the plane of the light beam (6) in the region of the outer rim of the sector (9), for the light beam (6), of an electric evaluation device (3), which is connected to the transmitter/ receiver head (1) and outputs a switching and/or display signal after the light beam (6) is interrupted when sweeping over the sector (9), and means (4) for suppressing a switching and/or display signal on the basis of the interruption, occurring outside the sector (9), of the light beam (6). In such a device, there is automatic adjustment onto the reflector (2) when the reflector (2) is provided at its two longitudinal ends with identification extensions (10) which reach beyond the sector (9) to be monitored and the suppression means (4) consist of a reset element which outputs a reset signal to the evaluation device (3) when the transmitter/receiver head (1) passes through the zero point which is arranged outside the reflector region with reference to the light beam (6). <IMAGE>
