PURPOSE:To obtain the filter bed having an excellent collecting property and to improve the cleanliness of the treated liq. without increasing the filtration resistance by using the fine fibrous material of an org. synthetic polymer as a filter aid. CONSTITUTION:The fine fibrous material of an org. synthetic polymer consisting of a rigid chain synthetic polymer such as an aromatic polyamide-based polymer is singly used as the filter aid, or the material mixed with the existing filter aid such as diatomaceous earth, potassium titanate, pulp, and linter is used. The fine fibrous material of the org. synthetic polymer is the whisker of an org. synthetic polymer or the finely fiberized material of an org. synthetic polymer, and the diameter is preferably controlled to <=0.7mum. As a result, a filter bed having an excellent collecting property is obtained, and the cleanliness of the treated liq. can be improved without increasing the filtration resistance.
