PURPOSE:To attempt to prevent blisters, cracks and peeling off the inner face of a tube-like body, by calcinating under heating in an inert atmosphere and adhering the inner face of a metal tube-like body with a ceramic layer by means of chemical reaction without growing the oxidized film existing at the interlayer face. CONSTITUTION:The inner face of a metal tube-like body having an oxidized film, for example, an exhaust manifold, is coated with an inorganic binder solution such as sodium silicate and so on by means of spraying and so on. A ceramic powder is adhered on the solution layer obtained of a uniform thickness. Then, if necessary, conditioning with humidity is carried out and the ceramic layer is solidified by the inorganic binder solution. The ceramic coated layer is generally constituted of a fireproof insulating layer and a fireproof layer. Then, small particles such as steel and copper particles whose thermal expansion coefficient is larger than that of the tube-like body are packed inside and sealed and the small particles are thermally expanded by heat calcination. The ceramic layer is thereby strongly pressed. The heat calcination is carried out in an inert atmosphere to prevent the growth of the oxidized layer and to react chemically the oxidized layer with the ceramic layer. Then, after heat calcination, the tube-like body is cooled in the oven and the small particles are therefrom taken out.
