Optical switch

The invention describes a switch for optical waveguides, which is designed to be particularly small and simple. Starting from the known switches, the switch position is achieved through the change of state of one or more piezoelectric bodies which change the local characteristic of the light wave to be transmitted. The invention is preferably carried out by applying the etching procedures known per se. By integrating microelectronic circuits into the piezoelectric body, the micromechanical circuits can be simplified even further.
