Apparatus for concentrating electrically charged macromolecules - in particular eluted from a gel - situated in a liquid, having a vessel, the interior of which is subdivided by at least one block having a trough for receiving the liquid - and if required the gel - into two electrode chambers, each containing at least one electrode, for receiving electrolytic solutions, the trough, on the one hand being directly connected to one electrode chamber and, on the other hand being connected to the other electrode chamber via a duct (20), leaving from the top or next to its base, which duct has a first falling section and then a rising section, characterised in that the rising section of the duct passes through a detachable stopper, between which and an abutment shoulder in the block a filter membrane retaining the macromolecules is to be clamped.
