Wine coolers are in principle punches which have long been known. The mixture of wine with fruit juice gives a fresh fruity drink having an alcohol content of about 6%. However, even this low alcohol content is a barrier, e.g. for people with damaged livers, former alcoholics or the millions of people who are not allowed to consume alcohol because of religious reasons. A wine cooler is therefore sought after which deserves its name with respect to flavour but which is also acceptable to the consumers hitherto excluded. In order to overcome the previous consumer barrier, de-alcoholised wine is used as the cooler base so that alcohol is also absent in the finished wine cooler, but the desired wine-fruit flavour is present.
