NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I [R is 1-6C alkyl or benzyl; m is a positive number (0.5-1.5) corresponding to the molar number of neutral 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane contained in 1mol. of the complex salt]. EXAMPLE:N-methyl-phthalazine.quaternary ammonium.7, 7, 8, 8-tetracyanoquino dimethane complex salt. USE:An organic semiconductor. It is useful as an electrically conductive material in the fields of electronic apparatuses or electronic materials. PREPARATION:Crystal of the compound of formula I can be easily produced in high yield, by mixing a hot acetonitrile solution of an N-substituted- phthalazine.quaternary ammonium salt of formula II (X is halogen) with a hot acetonitrile solution of 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane of formula III in hot state, reacting the components under normal pressure, allowing the reaction mixture to cool and, as necessary, pouring large excess of ether to the mixture to precipitate the reaction product. |
