The invention relates to a tool for manually tightening or loosening screws and nuts, especially those which are tight-fitting or are to be tightened with a high torque. The particularly compact construction and the high torque are achieved via a driving toothed wheel with a low number of teeth and a driving toothed wheel segment with a high number of teeth. The 1/2 and 3/4 inch connections render the tool usable with commercially available sockets and torque wrenches. Additional holding devices and the use of commercially available extensions and joints give the tool a large area of application.
