A hand atlas consisting of maps on the customary scale is supplemented by one or more special sheets of transparent material on which the individual symbols and individual information relating to life-saving services are marked so that, when the special transparent sheet is laid on the conventional map, they make it possible to identify immediately and easily where, for example, hospitals, police stations or helicopter stations are situated. The additional provision of the respective telephone numbers thus makes it easily possible for those involved in the accident to call the particular required form of assistance immediately and in the shortest possible way. It is further conceivable to arrange on these special sheets other additional special information in order thus to improve the information content of the actual map. Expediently, the radio beacons are also shown on the special sheet or sheets, so that the pilot of a rescue helicopter can easily identify and rapidly fly to the target area. <IMAGE>
