PURPOSE:To obtain a hyperlipemia alleviating agent lowering index of arteriosclerosis free from appearance of side effects, comprising a live cell or dead cell of a bacterium belonging to the genus Pediococcus as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:A hyperlipemia alleviating agent containing a live cell or a dead cell of a bacterium belonging to the genus Pediococcus, having alleviating action on hyperlipemia. A strain especially effective for lowering serum cholesterol value and serum trilygriceride value is Pediococcus cerevisiae K-16 strain and Pediococcus halophilus K-23 strain. A dose is properly 60mg-6g in due consideration of safety.
