PURPOSE:To prevent generation of defective articles at the time of cutting by setting the pressurizing force for scribing of 1st cutting lines and 2nd cutting lines at different pressures at the time of scribing glass plates at the cutting lines in the two directions intersecting with each other, then bending and pressurizing the glass plates, thereby cutting the glass plates. CONSTITUTION:The glass plate 3 positioned on one face of two sheets of the glass plates constituting a base material 1 is scribed successively from the left to the right, under a specified pressure P1, with the 1st cutting lines X1-X6 in the transverse direction along the boundary parts of the respective cells 2 adjacent in a vertical direction. The glass plate 3 is then scribed successively from the top end to the bottom end, under a pressure P2, with the 2nd cutting lines y1-y5 in the vertical direction along the boundary parts of the respective cells 2 adjacent in the horizontal direction. Both the scribing pressures are set at P1<P2 in this case, by which plural pieces of continuous bodies 4 connected with the cells vertically in one row are easily cut off and in succession, the unit cell bodies 2 are cut and separated from the continuous bodies 4. Many pieces of the unit bodies having no defective articles are thus cut from the base material 1 at a good yield.
