Stackable row chair

In the case of stackable row chairs, the lateral chair legs have to protrude so far outwards that they can accommodate between them the seat part of the next chair below in the stack. This spreading of the legs leads to a loss of space when the chairs are set up in rows. In order to avoid this loss of space, the chair legs (4) are interconnected via diagonal struts (8) which are interconnected at the centre under the seat part (2) so as to be pivotable to a limited extent between stops (10). The pivoting movement is effected by bending or stretching of toggle levers (6, 7) which, in the use position, form arms (5) or in the case of chairs without arms are arranged laterally under the seat part and can be locked in the stretched position. The pivotability of the chair legs (4) is utilised at the same time to couple the row chairs to one another in the use position. <IMAGE>
