PURPOSE:To provide a higher sensitivity, less foggings and decreased desensitization after long-term preservation by subjecting a silver halide emulsion contg. silver halide particles in which the average silver iodide content of the particles is higher than the silver iodide content in the outside margin phase of the particles to chemical maturation in the presence of a silver halide solvent. CONSTITUTION:The silver halide particles which have waving particle surfaces, are constituted of >=2 phases having different silver iodide contents and in which the average silver iodide content of the particles is higher than the silver iodide content in the outside margin phase of the particles are subjected to the chemical maturation in the presence of the silver halide solvent. Formation of the waving particle surfaces is executed by adding a growing modifying compd. to the silver halide particles at the time of growing said particles. An org. compd. is used as the growth modifying compd. Many of such compds. are known as a sensitizing dye, antifogging agent and stabilizer. The higher sensitivity, the less foggings and the decreased desensitization after the long-term preservation are thereby provided. |
