PURPOSE:To make control of contactless copied machining by generating the normal direction and tangential direction speed signals using the error of the measured distance, obtained by a contactless distance measuring prove, from the standard distance, and by determining the direction of copying. CONSTITUTION:When the measured distance L is entered in a tracing control device 11 from a measuring probe 17 of contactless type, an adding device 11b calculates the error L from the standard distance Lo, and thereupon speed signal generating parts 11c, 11d generate a normal direction VN and tangential direction VT speed signals. A tracing direction calculating part 11a, on the other hand, determines the tracing direction thetan+1 in the current time lot from the tracing direction in the previous time slot thetan and the difference between thetan and the tracing direction thetan-1 in the time slot before it with pulse coders 15X, 15Z and current axis position registers 16X, 16Z, and thus the speed signal for each axis VX, VZ is generated at the speed signal generator 11e. Thus high precision tracing control can be made contactlessly, and wear of sensor can be eliminated.
