PURPOSE:To enhance the water retentivity in a product and to enhance and keep cooling effect, by preparing a poultice by providing an adhesive layer to the single surface of a water swellable fiber cloth like body composed of a fiber material wherein a hydrophilic crosslinked polymer is bonded to a synthetic fiber having water absorbability of a specific value or more and held to a dry state. CONSTITUTION:A fiber material wherein a hydrophilic crosslinked polymer is bonded to a synthetic fiber may be formed by bonding the hydrophilic crosslinked polymer to the synthetic fiber in a degree not separated by usual force. For example, the synthetic fiber such as an acrylic fiber is used as a core and an outer layer composed of the hydrophilic crosslinked polymer such as sodium polyacrylate or a sodium acrylate/acrylamide copolymer is provided to the periphery of the core. The water absorbability of said fiber is 30ml/g or more, pref., 150ml/g or more. An adhesive is prepared by kneading a medicinal component such as corticosteroid and/or components such as an excipient, an adhesiveness imparting agent, an oxidation inhibitor, fragrance or a colorlant with an oleophilic adhesive substance. The adhesive thus prepared is uniformly applied to the single surface of the water-swellable fiber cloth like body and a separator is laminated to the surface of the adhesive layer.
