OPTICAL DISK RECORDING AND REPRODUCING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To shorten recording and reproducing time by tracking the same track when two beams irradiated to the surface of a disk by a common objective lens are a 1st mode and tracing difference tracks in the case of a 2nd mode. CONSTITUTION:The 1st and 2nd beams for recording/reproducing information are respectively generated from light sources 1, 2. The 1st and 2nd beams are synthesized by a prism 5 to be a synthesizing means and the synthesized beam is radiated to different positions on a disk 7 through the common objective lens 6. A 1st actuator 17 controls the 1st beam so that the 1st beam traces the 1st track. A 2nd actuator 18 controls the 2nd beam. The 2nd beam is controlled so as to trace the 1st track is the 1st mode and to trace the 2nd track different from the 1st one in the 2nd mode. Consequently, recording time in a recording mode or the like can be shortened and reproducing time in a reproducing mode or the like can be also shortened.
