PURPOSE:To realize the light weight and the invasion of the low heat and to enhance the reliability by a method wherein a superconducting electromagnetic coil, an electromagnetic- force support cylinder or spool, a thermal conductor which has been applied to the spool and a cooling vessel containing a coolant are placed in a vacuum vessel and the superconducting electromagnetic coil is cooled statically and indirectly by thermal conduction inside the vacuum vessel without immersing the coil in the coolant. CONSTITUTION:An electromagnetic-force support cylinder or spool 2 supporting a superconducting electromagnetic coil 1 is constituted by a good thermal conductor composed of aluminum, copper or the like or is constituted to be a double or multiple structure composed of the good thermal conductor and a good thermal conductive and high-strength alloy which is formed by applying a thermal conductor 3 for cooling use to the good thermal conductor. The superconducting electromagnetic coil 1 is positioned by a spacer 6 and is housed into a radiation shield and a vacuum vessel 5 together with a cooling vessel 4. The superconducting electromagnetic coil 1 is brought into contact with the good thermal conductor 3; a coolant such as liquid helium 7 or the like is pourced into the cooling vessel 4; the chillness is guided to the superconducting electromagnetic coil 1 through the good thermal conductor 3. In addition, a room-temperature magnetic field cavity 8 interlinked with the air is formed in the vacuum vessel 5; an opening 9 is kept inside a magnetic-field space of a superconducting electromagnet; the superconducting electromagnetic coil 1 is maintained at a required cold temperature without immersing it in liquid helium. |
