The locking unit, e.g. for a vice, consists of at least one moving jaw and a rocket (1) which holds the jaw against its sliders. The rocker is operated by a pneumatic piston which is fitted relative to the rocker so that the tracjectory of its centre (3) coincides at least approximately with the axis of the cylinder (4) in which it travels. The piston (2) is fixed to the rocker so that it slides on it, moving to or from the axis of the rocker's rotation, especially by a tenon (8) which travels in a socket (9). In addition, the piston is sealed relative to the cylinder by a flexible skirt (6). USE/ADVANTAGE - Locking unit for vice. Improved piston seal for greater-reliability and reduced wear.
