PURPOSE:To obtain an Al alloy sheet having superior surface quality and maintaining surface roughening resistance and drawability by heating an Al alloy having regulated Fe and Si contents and a regulated ratio of Si to Fe, cooling the alloy under prescribed conditions, further cooling it to a temp. at which planing is enabled and carrying out plating and hot rolling. CONSTITUTION:An Al alloy consisting of 0.1-0.8wt.% Fe, 0.05-0.4wt.% Si (Si/Fe<=0.5) and the balance Al is heated at >=560 deg.C for >=2hr. The heated alloy is cooled at <=30 deg.C/hr cooling rate in the temp. range of >=560-520 deg.C so as to coarsely precipitate most of sol. elements during the cooling. The heated alloy may be cooled to 400-520 deg.C and held for >=3hr. The heat treated Al alloy is cooled to a temp. at which planing is enabled and the alloy is plated, heated to <=550 deg.C and hot rolled to obtain an Al alloy sheet having superior surface quality.
