PURPOSE:To make it possible to smoothly perform intermittent drive by reciprocating a shaft with the use of a linear actuator so that the shaft is engaged with a locking part of an cuter ring having its inner periphery with which epicyclic elements are inscribed. CONSTITUTION:When a motor 1 rotates a rotary shaft 2, epicyclic rollers 3 autorotate but does not revolves since it is held by a retainer 4 secured to a bed 8, while an outer ring 5 self-travels. Meanwhile a shaft 6 is reciprocated by a linear actuator 7 and is locked with one of looking parts 5a formed on the outer periphery of the outer ring 5 within a predetermined time. At this time the self-travel of the outer ring 5 is stopped while a slip occurs on the inner peripheral surface on which the autorotating epicyclic rollers 3 roll. With this arrangement, the outer ring 6 may perform intermittent drive while the rotation of the motor 1 does not vary. Thus, it is possible to perform smooth intermittent drive with low noise and vibration while the structure of the intermittent drive device is simple.
