PURPOSE:To make the confirming operation of an operator for a collect call simpler, to reduce the man-hour required for making the confirming operation, and on the other hand, to reduce the waiting time of the calling subscriber of the collect call, by directly connecting the collect call to the called subscriber when the calling subscriber dials. CONSTITUTION:When a calling subscriber 1 dials the telephone number of a called subscriber following a previously fixed number, a local switch 2 discriminates that the call is a collect call, and selects and connects the route to be connected to the called subscriber 5 through an exchange 3 including a switchboard 6. Then the exchange 3 including the switchboard 6 monitors the answer signal of the called subscriber 5 to the collect call. Upon detecting the answer signal, the part of the connecting route of the calling subscriber 1 in the exchange 3 including the switchboard 6 with called subscriber 5 is reconnected and the connecting route is connected with the switchboard 6 and the operator 7 of the switchboard 6 connects the calling subscriber with the called subscriber, after talking with the calling and called subscribers 1 and 5 and confirming their intentions to the collect call. Therefore, the time required by the operator for confirming the collect call is reduced.
