The invention relates to a tool for attaching a cruciate ligament prosthesis between the femur and tibia of the human knee-joint, the cruciate ligament prosthesis being guided between the trochanters of the femur, and incisions through the dorsal trochanters imitating a circle whose hypothetical centre is to be located for the purpose of arranging a bore through the femur. The principle object of the invention consists in providing a tool of the type mentioned above, with which a transcondylar bore can be made which is adapted optimally to the bone and joint structure of the individual patient. The solution is characterised by a targeting device with two contact rods which correspond to one another and which can be applied in each case to one of the dorsal trochanters at contact points, with the knee flexed, in such a way that they are perpendicular to the hypothetical circular plane extending through these contact points, and by a hole gauge which likewise corresponds to the contact rods and is used for locating the centre of the circle.
