PURPOSE:To smoothly perform a line switching operation without erroneous connection by automatically switching a switch based on the control signal from a terminal equipment at the time of connecting either one of host equipment and the terminal equipment to each other. CONSTITUTION:A line switching equipment 3 incorporates the switch which connects the signal line from a line control circuit 5 to one of plural MODEMs 2. This switch is switched by the control signal outputted from a line switching control part 8. An application program 7 recognized the host equipment to be connected and reports it to a transmission control part 6. This reported information is sent to the equipment 3 as the control signal through the control part 8. The equipment to which this control signal is inputted switches the incorporated switch to connect the circuit 5 and the pertinent MODEM 2. Thus, erroneous connection caused by a manual switching is prevented to smoothly perform the line switching operation.
