A disposable diaper has tabs (10) which are converted from a nonextensible to an extensible state by merely deploying the tabs (10) for diapering and without having to break a weakened joint to accomplish the conversion. The tabs (10) are comprised of several layers including an unwind release coating (1), a carrier web layer (2), a layer of pressure-sensitive adhesive (3), a layer of stretchable or extensible web (4), a layer of pressure sensitive adhesive (5), a liner web (7), a release coating (6) and a layer of pressure-sensitive adhesive (8). |
