PURPOSE:To easily realize various driving modes by providing a switch means in the respective outputs of a scanning circuit and supplying (a) pieces of driving signals to desired (a) pieces of driving lines through the switch means. CONSTITUTION:The gate electrodes of three transistors Qv1-Qv3 are respectively connected to the respective output terminals of the scanning circuit 101. The respective transistors Qv1 sequentially transfer a driving voltage Vr1 to horizontal lines HDL 1, 3, 5,..., the respective transistors Qv2 sequentially transfer a driving voltage Vr2 to HFLs 2, 4, 6,... and the respective transistors Qv3 sequentially transfer a driving voltage Vr3 to HDLs 3, 5, 7,.... The scanning circuit 101 sequentially outputs scanning pulses phi1, phi2,... according to pulses phiv1, phiv2. Accordingly, the driving voltages Vr1-Vr3 can be suitably combined and impressed and an image pickup element can be scanned in a desired mode.
