PURPOSE:To position a core to a low floating quantity side and to freely control a floating quantity difference, by reducing sliding plane width at a side where the core is embedded narrower than another sliding plane width. CONSTITUTION:A recording and reproducing core 1 is embedded in the medium travel direction run end of a sliding plane on one side of two sliding planes 2 and 3 to generate a floating direction, and the sliding plane width is formed narrower than that of the other side. By constituting a device in such way, it is possible to always set the sliding plane sides 2 and 3 at the low floating quantity sides, and to control the floating quantity difference freely corresponding to the difference of the sliding plane width. The sliding plane at a core side is positioned at the minimum floating quantity side by reducing the sliding plane width further. Also, it is preferable to position the sliding plane where the recording and reproducing core is to be embedded at an outer peripheral side in due consideration of a point to prevent the lowering of recording density from being generated.
