COUNTING DEVICE FOR MOVING OBJECT

PURPOSE:To decide the number of passing objects which move in a wide range by securing the OR of the picture obtained by binarizing a differential image between an input image and a reference image to obtain an image corresponding to the area through which the moving object passed and counting the number of image elements of said image to decide the number of passed objects. CONSTITUTION:An input image received from an input means 1 and a reference image received from a reference image memory 2 are inputted at one time at an image arithmetic part 3 for comparison between image elements. Thus a differential image is obtained and at the same time obtained differential image data is binarized by a prescribed threshold level for extraction only a moving object. The arithmetic result of the part 3 is stored in a work image memory 4 and the number of image elements of said moving object are counted by a counter circuit 5 for measurement of the area of the moving object. When the passengers get out of the viewfield of the means 1, a deciding part 6 monitors the counted number of said passengers and reads the count value when the increase of the circuit 5 is discontinued. Thus it is possible to decide the number of passing moving objects in a wide range.
