PURPOSE:To reduce the horsepower required for high-speed cruising by forming the shape at the water plane of each of the two ship bodies, which are arranged symmetrically at a predetermined distance, into a V-shape having the acute part facing the bow and blowing off the air from the surface of each ship body so that the wetted surface of the ship body is covered with the air film. CONSTITUTION:In a catamaran having two ship bodies (twin hulls) 1 and 1 supporting a passengers' cabin 8, the shape at the water plane of each hull 1 is formed into a V-shape whose bow part is acute and slender, while the sectional form of each hull at the bow part 2 is of also acute V-shape. In addition, a plurality of step-like, discontinuous parts 3 are formed in the longitudinal direction of the ship in such a manner that the section on the bow side at the discontinuous part 3 is larger than that on the stern side. Besides, an air ports 4 facing the stern is formed in the vicinity of the bottom of each discontinuous section. While the ship is sailing, the air port 4 blows off the air so that the ship's bottoms 5 and 6 are covered with the air, thereby reducing the frictional resistance.
