PURPOSE:To increase fingerprint proofness and wear resistance by providing a specific amount of discontinuous coat consisting of inorganic oxide or a mixture of inorganic oxide and silicone oil on the surface of stainless steel plate or oxidation-colored stainless steel plate. CONSTITUTION:Inorganic oxide sol or a mixture 2 of inorganic oxide sol and silicone oil emulsion is atomized by a static atomizer and the atomized particles are applied on the surface of stainless steel plate 1 or oxidation-colored stainless steel plate in such a manner that said particles are dispersed on the surface of steel plate. Next, the emulsion is dried to form a discontinuous coat with a dried coating amount of 0.1-2.0g/m<2>. The preferable inorganic oxides are silica, alumina, lithium silicate, zirconium, etc. The best suited mixing ratio of inorganic oxide and silicon oil is 0.1-10.0 for 100. The stainless steel plate thus obtained has improved fingerprint proofness and wear resistance.
