PURPOSE:To facilitate a document editing job by outputting the information on a specific position in a document to display it on a screen in response to a prescribed request and moving a cursor to a designated specific position. CONSTITUTION:The information on a designated position in the document is stored in a position information storing means A. When a request is received from an operator, the position information stored in the means A is extracted out of the means A and displayed on a screen by a position information display means B. The operator selects and command either one of those displayed positiOn information. Thus the selected position information is designated by a position designating means C. Then a cursor is moved to the designated specific position together with the scroll of the screen by a cursor moving means D. As a result, an access is easily given to a specific position in the document and the document editing efficiency is improved.
