894,552. Operating the doors of skips in shafts. QUALTER, HALL & CO. (SALES) Ltd. July 17, 1958 [July 30, 1957], No. 24185/57. Class 78 (4). The guillotine door 4 of a bunker 6 feeding a skip hoist is opened by energy stored during movement of the skip 21. In the construction illustrated, the door rests on springs 17 carried by guide rods suspended from a beam 5 which is drawn upwards, during the final movement of the skip 21, until the compression in the springs 17 is sufficient to overcome the friction caused by the material resting against the door 4, or alternatively until a catch similar to that described in Specification 788,903 is released by movement of the skip. The beam 5 is raised by cables 9 which pass over pulleys 7 on the beam 5 and over fixed pulleys 8, 11 to a pulley 12 on one end of a bell-crank 18, the other end of which carries a roller 19 engaging a track 20 on the skip. The springs 17 may be replaced by a pneumatic device or by a rubber spring. released by movement of the skip.
