PURPOSE:To improve the shelf stability, gradient, sharpness and graininess of a sensitive material by incorporating a pivaloylacetoanilide type yellow coupler into the high sensitivity layer and a benzoylacetoanilide type yellow coupler into at least one of the low sensitivity layers. CONSTITUTION:Low sensitivity silver halide emulsion layers and a high sensitivity silver halide emulsion layer are successively laminated on a support so that the high sensitivity layer becomes the top layer. A pivaloylacetoanilide type yellow coupler is incorporated into the high sensitivity layer and a benzoylacetoanilide type yellow coupler into at least one of the low sensitivity layers. The low sensitivity layers have the same color sensitivity as the high sensitivity layer and lower sensitivity than the high sensitivity layer. The difference in logE value (E is the quantity of light for exposure) related to sensitivity between the high sensitivity layer and the low sensitivity layers is preferably >=0.1. Thus, a silver halide photographic sensitive material having superior shelf stability, gradient, sharpness and graininess can be obtd. |
