PURPOSE:To protect the smooth surface of a gap part and a core connecting part, and to improve the characteristic of a head by forming a second insulating layer on the lower insulating layer, and placing the lower side of a conductor coil at a higher position than height of the gap part. CONSTITUTION:The lower magnetic layer 2 is embedded into a substrate 1, a gap part 11 and a core material of a part which becomes a core connecting part 8 are brought to patterning to a projection shape, and between these projections, the lower insulating layer 3 is formed, polished until the projection is exposed, the second insulating layer 9 having scarcely surface roughness due to ion etching is formed, and thereafter, a conductor coil 4 is formed. In such a way, even when the conductor coil 4 has been formed by ion etching, the gap part 11 is protected by the second insulating layer 9, the surface roughness of the gap part 11 of the lower core is small, and a satisfactory head characteristic is obtained. |
