Mechanism which comprises a handle (24) coupled to a transmission rod (28) to form a toggle (30), a device for supporting the moving contact (14) having a plate (40) rotatably mounted on a pivot (38), and a mechanical link (48) which can be broken under the action of a trip lever (44, 34). The link (48) is formed by a catch (54) for retaining the trip lever (42) interacting with a hook (50) pivotably mounted on an axle (52) of the plate (40). The rod (28) is directly coupled to the hook (50), the whole constituting a demultiplyer stage allowing a reduction in the tripping effort.
