PURPOSE:To facilitate a cleaning operation of a magnetic head by executing the cleaning operation by rotating a cleaning use cylindrical member by a rotation driving source of a magnetic recording medium, in a state that a cartridge is not loaded. CONSTITUTION:In a state that a cartridge C is not loaded, a magnetic head is allowed to come into contact with the surface of a cleaning use cylindrical member 57, a rotation driving motor 3 of a magnetic recording medium provided in a cylindrical body 2 of a hollow cavity of a rotation driving mechanism RD, and by a rotation of the cleaning use cylindrical body 57, dust which has adhered to the magnetic head is removed. Also, at the time of loading the cartridge C, its lower edge abuts on an inclined surface 64a of a cleaner avoidance operating member 64 provided in the vicinity of the base part of a supporting arm 55, a magnetic head cleaner is avoided automatically to the outside of a course of the cartridge C, and the cleaning operation is facilitated.
