PURPOSE:To prevent cold shut and to extend service life of a weir by arranging a roll forming refractory layer on surface as the weir at lower position side of pouring basin part. CONSTITUTION:At lower position of the pouring basin part 4 in continuous casting apparatus, the roll weir 16 having the surface layer 17 of ceramic quality, etc., is arranged. Molten metal is poured into the pouring basin part 4 while rotating the roll weir 16 to execute the continuous casting, and solidified shell 10 is formed and the heat transfer thereof is executed with a cooling device 9. Then, even if the molten metal is solidified and stuck on the surface of the roll weir 16, the solidified material is detached from a belt 1 by rotation of the roll weir 16 and remelted. As the surface of the weir 16 is always maintained to clean, the development of the cold shut is prevented. Further, as friction resistance between the roll weir 16 and the belt 1 is reduced, the service life of the weir 16 is extended. |
