PURPOSE:To easily change only a part of a registered character string without executing complex operation by specifying additional and modification information by a specifying means at the time of registering words and character strings inputted from an input device in a character processor. CONSTITUTION:An input control part 25 discriminates various key data from the input device 1, and when the data are mode switching instruction data, outputs the data to a mode conversion control part 41. When the data are edition instruction data, the control part 25 outputs the data to an input data control part 40. At the time of recognizing the edition instruction data, the control part 25 receives and transfers the data to an edition control part 44, and at the time of receiving character data, transfers the data to a character input control part 45. At the time of receiving a suer character string registering/deleting instruction, the control part 25 outputs the instruction to a user character string registration/calling/deleting processing part 49. Thus, a part of the registered character string can be changed without executing complex operation and the operatability of the character processor can be improved.
