PURPOSE:To generate reference signal having sufficient function by generating a delay reference signal by switching the amount of delaying a signal relevant to the reference signal by using a head selection information, and using the resulting delay reference signal servo reference. CONSTITUTION:At the time of E-E mode, the output of a NAND gate 24 and that of an AND gate 44 come in high-level, switches 11, 12 are connected to H-side, an output signal 19 from a reference signal generator 17 comes to be a signal delayed by 16 Hs behind a signal 21, so that a video signal delayed by 16 Hs behind an input is obtained from a TBC output. When the operation is switched to the normal reproduction mode, the output of the AND gate 44 comes in low-level, the switches 11, 12 convert to L-side, so that the timing of VTR output video signals and that of a synchronizing signal added to said video signal and that of a burst signal are made coincide with each other.
