PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for brightness adjustment of a display device due to the change in the mounting method of a telephone set by providing a brightness adjustment means adjusting automatically the brightness of the display device depending on the change in the holding method of a handset. CONSTITUTION:In turning a projection of a handset hanger 33 upward to mount a telephone set main body 32 onto a wall face, a cam 34 starts a microswitch 35 by the turning of the hanger 33 to close a switch contact 35a. Thus, a voltage division resistor 21b and a voltage decreasing resistor 23 are connected in parallel and the voltage division voltage to an LCD 1 is decreased. As a result each liquid crystal element chip in the LCD 1 is rotated depending on the voltage division (visual angle is changed) and each character in the LCD 1 by the wall mount of the telephone set main body 32 is adjusted to the brightness easy to see apparently.
