PURPOSE:To identify a printed wiring board automatically and without narrowing a component-mounting region of the printed wiring board by a method wherein, after a conductive terminal and a conductive receptacle have been made electrically conductive only at a conductive identification part, the printed wiring board is identified. CONSTITUTION:In a printed wiring board 7, a conductive identification part 8 and a nonconductive part 9 are installed in arbitrary positions facing conductive terminals 1. When the conductive identification part 8 and the nonconductive part 9 in the printed wiring board 7 and faced with the conductive terminals 1 and are sandwiched by fixing jigs 2, 4, the conductive terminal 1 facing the conductive identification part 8 is connected electrically to a conductive receptacle 5 via the conductive identification part 8, and a transistor circuit connected to the conductive receptacle 5 can be made to an ON state by a voltage at the conductive terminal 1. The conductive terminal 1 facing the nonconductive part 9 is not connected to the conductive receptacle 5. Accordingly, the transistor circuit connected to the conductive receptacle 5 is made to an OFF state. By this setup, the printed wiring board 7 can be identified easily.
