PURPOSE:To decrease the transmission loss to light of short wavelengths such as UV rays by forming the titled device of a pipe body and transparent bodies which are provided to the incident end and exit end of the pipe body and allow transmission of rays. CONSTITUTION:A glass pipe 21 is mounted with a concave lens 22 at the front end to constitute a photodetector 13 and is sealed at the other end with a transparent plate 23. A discharge pipe 24 is connected via a valve 25 to a vacuum pump 26. A reflecting face is properly provided on the inside or outside surface of the glass pipe 21. For example, silver foil is stuck to the outside surface. This device is used by evacuating the inside of the glass pipe 21 by the vacuum pump 26, then closing the valve 26 and matching the concave lens 22 with a required focus. The incident light from the concave lens 22 arrives at the other end while the light is reflected by the inside surface, etc., of the glass pipe 21. The reflected light transmits he transparent plate 33 and enters a photoelectric converter 15. The transmission loss of the light is extremely thereby extremely decreased. |
