PURPOSE:To provide a secondary battery having a highly active neg. pole by incorporating such a construction that the positive pole is laminate of a pos. pole active substance layer and a metal lithium layer and that the negative pole is a metal or alloy which absorbs lithium. CONSTITUTION:Lithium foil 2 is laid over the positive pole 1 mating the negative pole 4, and this foil and the neg. pole 4 are placed the one over the other with a separator 3 interposed and installed in cell cases 5, 7 together with electrolyte. The secondary battery thus assembled has inverted polarities at this point of time. The lithium layer 2 overlapped over the positive pole 1 can be taken in the negative pole 4 by connecting the pos. and neg. poles of this kind of secondary battery through, for ex., a resistance. When taking in of lithium by the neg. pole 4 is completed, the lithium layer 2 provided in contact with the pos. pole 1 will vanish. This is put in the condition serviceable as a battery by charging with an external power supply such as a charger. |
