PURPOSE:To obtain an electrical double layer capacitor, which is not deteriorated even though a high voltage of 2.4 V or thereabouts is applied to the capacitor, by a method wherein an amorphous alloy containing at least a specified amount of Cr and containing Fe as its main component is used as an anode current collecting body and/or an anode case. CONSTITUTION:In an electrical double layer capacitor 1 using activated carbon sheet electrodes 2, an amorphous alloy containing iron as its main component and containing at least chrome of 5-32 wt.% is used as an anode current collecting body 3 and/or an anode case. For example, an amorphous alloy obtainable by laminating directly a 0.05-mm thick amorphous alloy 3a having a composition consisting of Cr of 8.4 wt.%, P of 8.2 wt.% and C of 1.7 wt.% with the remnant of Fe together with a 0.2-mm thick stainless steel 3b or an amorphous alloy obtainable by laminating the alloy 3a and the steel 3b with a conductive bonding agent is used as the anode current collecting body 3 and a 0.2-mm thick stainless steel with an Ni plating of 15 mum applied to its inner surface is used as a cathode current collecting body 4. As an electrolyte, one obtainable by dissolving 0.5 M of Bu4PBF4 in propylene carbonate is used and the coin- shaped electrical double layer capacitor 1 is made. |
