Hydrostatic steriliser equipment comprises the following:-interconnected vessels which are located near each other. Produce for sterilisation is passed through these vessels in a vertical zig-zag motion. Steam spaces are formed between neighbouring vessels and the pressure in these spaces increases in steps from atmospheric to the saturation pressure corresponding to the sterilising temperature. - The steam space with the highest pressure is (G), the vessels to either side of (G) are used for heating and cooling respectively. The vessel (G) nearest to the steam space with the highest pressure is next to vessel (U) which is the nearest on the cooling side. Vessel (U) has two branches. The space above these branches is divided, but interconnected by two branches of the air connection.
