PURPOSE:To mount a coil surely and stably by a method wherein whether an insertion operation is executed correctly is judged by a displacement amount within a prescribed duration of an insertion means detected by a detection means and the insertion operation is then terminated or interrupted. CONSTITUTION:After a prescribed duration has elapsed from a start of an insertion operation, a judgement circuit 11 compares a displacement amount detected by a displacement sensor 10 with a prescribed insertion amount. If the displacement amount exceeds the prescribed insertion amount, the insertion operation has been executed correctly; accordingly, a suction chuck installed at an ejector 3 stops a suction operation, detaches a coil 1 from a mounting head 2 and completes the insertion operation. On the other hand, if the displacement amount does not reach the prescribed insertion amount, the coil 1 is defective and leads 12 are not inserted into insertion holes correctly; a signal to stop the insertion operation is output. Following this signal, the insertion operation is stopped; a positioning arm 6 shifts the mounting head 2 to a prescribed tray for mounting the defective coil. After that, the coil 1 is discharged from the mounting head 2; a new coil is mounted and the insertion operation of the coil is resumed.
