PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for treatment equipment for a use electrolyte and to reduce cost by subjecting an object to be decontaminated to cleaning by sodium hydroxide and further to cleaning by nitric acid, followed by electrolytic removing using sodium nitrate as an electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:The nuclide element deposited in a nitric acid liquid is subjected to accelerated dissolution by a change of pH in a sodium hydroxide cleaning stage 1. The object to be decontaminated is then cleaned 2 by the nitric acid. The sodium hydroxide in the stage 1 and the nitric acid in the nitric acid cleaning stage 2 are mixed to form the electrolyte (3). The sodium nitrate is formed and the liquid is changed neutral by this mixing, by which the greater part of the radioactive metal nuclide dissolved in the nitric acid and sodium hydroxide is settled as the hydroxide. The settled hydroxide is separated as sludge (6). The object past a washing stage 5 and an electrolytic decontaminating stage 6 is further subjected to a washing stage 8, then to a waste disposal 9 as general waste.
