PURPOSE:To uniformize quality and to prevent exfoliation of a hologram layer even under the conditions of a high temp. and high humidity or high-temp.-low temp. cycles by preventing the clouding and cracking of the hologram obtd. by subjecting a recording carrier to photoirradiation from both faces prior to removing of a halogen-contg. material which is a sensitizing agent. CONSTITUTION:The recording carrier is subjected to the photoirradiation from both faces to partly crosslink or strengthen the entire surface of the film prior to the removal of the halogen-contg. material from the recording carrier. This crosslinking is executed at the intensity which is strong on the incident face side and is weak on the exit side. The recording carrier near the surface in contact with a substrate is strengthened by as much as the quantity of the balance obtd. with respect to the surface of the recording carrier and such strengthening contributes to an improvement in the adhesive strength between the recording carrier and the substrate according to this method of executing the photoirradiation from both faces. The hologram having high diffraction efficiency is thereby obtd. without clouding and cracking the hologram even if the recording carrier is subjected to an abrupt swelling or contracting treatment. The generation of the exfoliation is obviated even under the conditions of the high temp. and high temp. or the heat cycles.
