PURPOSE:To provide a film having excellent polarization performance as well as characteristics such as heat resistance, moisture resistance, weatherability, and transparency by incorporating a specific anthraquinone compd. therein. CONSTITUTION:This film contains the anthraquinone compd. expressed by formula I. (In formula I, R<1> and R<2> denote a hydrogen atom, halogen atom, alkyl group or alkoxy group; R<2> denotes a hydrogen atom, -OCH2R<4>, -NHCH2R<4>, -COOOR<4>, -OOCR<4>, -NHCOR<4>, -CONHR<4>, etc. R<4> denotes a hydrogen atom; alkyl group; phenyl group, cyclohexyl group, pyridyl group, biphenyl group, tarphenyl group or naphthyl group which may be substd. with an alkyl group, alkoxy group or halogen atom, (n) denotes 1, 2 or 3). The polarizing film which has the excellent polarization performance and is also provided with the characteristics such as heat resistance, moisture resistance, weatherability and transparency is thereby obtd.
