PURPOSE:To prevent degradation in video quality owing to the scattering and reflection of back light at the joint parts by packing a transparent adhesive agent having the light refractive index approxiametely equiv. to the light refractive index of bar-shaped transparent substrates to the joint parts between the bar-shaped transparent substrates. CONSTITUTION:Picture elements 6 are arranged in parallel between the 1st glass substrate 1 and the 2nd glass substrate 2 in the state of bringing the mirror-finished joint end faces of the bar-shaped glass substrates 7 into contact with each other. The transparent adhesive agent having the light refractive index nearly equiv. to the light refractive index of the substrates 7 is packed in the joint parts (a) of the substrates 7 and the substrates 7 are joined to each other by the adhesive agent. These joint parts has the state as if the entire part of the bar-shaped glass substrate groups is a sheet of plate at the time of video displaying. The scattering or reflection is thereby decreased and backlight is smoothly transmitted.
