PURPOSE:To improve the smoothness of a support after the application of an emulsion by using paper having <=3.0mum average roughness (SRa) on the central surface measured with a three-dimensional surface roughness gauge so as to prevent blacking and recessing. CONSTITUTION:Both sides of paper having <=3.0mum average roughness (SRa) on the central surface in the entire wavelength region measured by a three- dimensional surface roughness gauge are coated with polyethylene. The smoothness of the side to which an emulsion is applied is especially regulated so as to attain <=1.0mum SRa1.6-6.4 in the wavelength region of 1.6-6.4mm corresponding to the wavy relatively coarse unevenness and <=1.5mum SRa0.2-1.6 in the wavelength region of 0.2-1.6mm corresponding to spotty fine unevenness. Thus, blacking and recessing are prevented and the smoothness after the application of an emulsion is improved. |
